What makes a good teacher?

According to Jeremy Harmer it is:

- teachers should make their lessons interesting, it means students don't asleep in class;

- a good teacher should love his/her job;

- a good teacher always puts on "good teacher's face" and leaves her problems outside the classrom;

- a good teacher doesn't hide her personality from her students because she  is a person as well;

- a good teacher has lots of knowledge not only of her/his subject;

- good teachers bring their lives and interests into the classroom;

- a good teacher should be an entertainer in the positive sense of the word;

- a good teacher should be approachable;

- a good teacher should have affinity with the ones he/she  is teaching;

- a good teacher should draw out the quiet students and control the talkative ones;

- a good teacher corrects without offending;

- a good teacher helps rather than shouts;

- a good teacher knows his/her students' names;

- a good teacher rough tunes his/her language;

- a good teacher uses simple and logical instructions;

- a good teacher makes eye contact with the ones he/she is teaching;

- a good teacher should have a sense of dress code;

- a good teacher should treat all  students equally;

- a good teacher should be flexible;

- a good teacher should strike a balance between predictability and surprise;

- a good teacher should inspire a class;

-  teachers can change lives because teachers make a difference.
